Tēnā koutou katoa,
It’s great to be back at school. The excitement in the children is fabulous and contagious. They simply make me smile.
On Monday we welcomed our new whanau with a pōwhiri and that was a great way to start our term. It will be very busy, with many in-school and offsite events included across the school. Please keep an eye on HERO, for community notices and we will use paper notices, Facebook and the school app when needed.
Just an early ‘heads up’ about our 3-way conferences. These were know as parent-teacher interviews where only the adults attended the interview. But now the idea is to have children and whanau share in the process
These are planned for August, with dates and times to be confirmed at the next Board meeting.
Please keep an eye out so you can book a time to meet with your child’s teachers. We are aiming to better the 88% attendance we had in 2020.
We have an attendance process where we monitor our student’s attendance twice a term throughout the year. If a student’s attendance is less than 80% of that time a letter is sent home stating the percentage of attendance and the number of days present, absent, or late. There are multiple steps in this process and if an improvement is not seen, necessary steps will be taken. This can involve Life To The Max who have truancy workers to help support you and your child back to regular attendance.
A reminder, from Term 2 we will be enforcing road rules and the safety of our children on the roads. We will be enlisting the support of NZ Police with all infringements.
